Job posting programs alert employees to available positions within a company, demonstrate an employer's commitment to fair employment practices, and locate qualified applicants at little or no cost. However, if not designed and implemented carefully, job posting programs can cause employees to feel slighted if an outside person is hired to fill the position or if employees in satellite offices aren't on the posting schedule. The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has endorsed internal job posting programs as a highly effective means of fulfilling Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) obligations regarding promotions. Federal contractors with contracts valued at $100,000 or more must engage in an external posting program aimed at employing and advancing covered veterans.
