The Denver Westword recently published a job listing that has attracted a lot of media attention, because smoking marijuana on the job not only won't get you fired but is expected.

The newspaper is in search of a freelance writer to review establishments that dispense medial marijuana in Colorado. However, not every pot smoker will qualify for the job of medical marijuana critic--and after reading the details about the job, fewer may actually want it.

In addition to being a talented writer, the reviewer must have a state medical-marijuana ID, the newspaper says. The newspaper is upfront that the position will include a “meager” compensation package. Plus, the critic must foot the bill for any medical marijuana they get from the dispensaries.

The newspaper stresses that the critic will be reviewing the establishments themselves and not the product they dispense. The newspaper says it is serious work, noting how “very important easy access to quality medical marijuana is for so many people.” Still, the job posting includes a few stabs at humor:

“Think you've got what it takes? Send a resume (informal is okay; handwritten on rolling papers isn't) and a one-paragraph essay on ‘What Marijuana Means to Me' to joe[dot]tone@westword.com. The more creative the better--so get rolling.”
