As the American workweek grows longer, conflicts over overtime pay are heating up, according to the Christian Science Monitor.



PacBell Settles OT Suit for $35M 
Pacific Bell agreed Monday to pay $35 million to end a lawsuit lodged by 1,500 engineers, in what is believed to be the largest settlement of a white-collar overtime case in California.



Legislation Expected to Shield Stock Option Profits from Overtime Calculati 
One of the bigger thorns in the side of the Labor Department lately has been its opinion letter stating (in some cases) that stock option profits need to be considered when calculating overtime pay.



Labor Department Backtracks on Stock Options and Overtime  
It's becoming a familiar pattern at OSHA and the Department of Labor. One of these agencies writes an opinion letter that tries to answer a specific query from a company about how to handle some tricky area of compliance.
