Wage and Hour Division Collects Record Back Wages 
The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division (WHD) reported that it recouped more than $220 million in back wages for workers in fiscal year 2007, the highest amount ever.



CVS to Pay More than $250,000 to Settle FLSA Allegations 
CVS Pharmacy, Inc. has agreed to pay $226,598 in penalties and $38,151 in back wages after the Department of Labor accused the company of violating the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Firms to Pay Nearly $1M to Hurricane Katrina Workers 
L & R Security Inc. and HKA Enterprises Inc. have agreed to pay a total of $941,537 in back wages to 382 current and former security guards and debris removal workers.

The U.S. Department of Labor has filed a lawsuit against Pilgrim's Pride Corp. in Dallas, seeking more than $3 million for 500 former and current employees.



Utah Business Owner Pleads Guilty to Willful OT Violations 
A co-owner of a drywall company in Logan, Utah, has pleaded guilty to criminal misdemeanor charges for repeated and willful violations of the overtime and recordkeeping provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division announced.



Wal-Mart to Pay $34M for Incorrect OT Calculations 
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., has agreed to pay nearly $34 million in back wages and interest for calculating overtime incorrectly over a span of almost 5 years.



More Back Wages Collected in 2006 
The Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division collected nearly $172 million in back wages in fiscal year 2006, up from just over $166 million in fiscal year 2005.



Tool Allows Workers to See if They Are Owed Back Wages 
The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division (WHD) has launched an online tool that allows employees to look up whether they are owed back wages as a result of a WHD investigation.



Dept. of Labor to Release Names of Workers Owed Back Wages 
The Department of Labor has agreed to release the names of thousands "unlocatable" low-wage workers who are owed back wages as part of government settlements, according to Public Citizen, an advocacy group that filed a lawsuit seeking the release of the names.
