Optimism among small businesses is on the increase, but these businesses appear to be keeping their hiring plans in check, according to a survey from American Express.
Employers added 57,000 jobs in September and
the unemployment rate remained at 6.1 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics
of the U.S. Department of Labor reported.
The employment market for students at top-tier undergraduate and MBA programs
has passed a low point and is now on the way up, according to a study released
by WetFeet, Inc.
Employers slashed 93,000 jobs in August, and the jobless rate dipped from 6.2 percent to 6.1 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department
of Labor reported today.
Forty-six percent of senior executives at public companies say their company
is understaffed, according to a poll by Christian & Timbers, an executive
search firm. Yet, 42 percent do not expect to do significant hiring for U.S.
operations in the next year.
