President Bush has reinstated the prevailing wages provisions of Davis-Bacon
Act in areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The reinstatement is effective
November 8, 2005.
The Davis-Bacon Act, which requires federal contractors to pay the prevailing or average pay in the region, has been suspended in the Hurricane Katrina-damaged areas of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi by President Bush.
A senior employee of Ventura County, Calif., has sued the county, saying she endured a hostile work environment after spurning sexual advances from her 70-year-old boss.
