Where Are (or Where Will Be) the Jobs?

Last Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the unemployment rate for November was 6.7 percent, up from 6.5 percent in October--and up 2 percent over one year ago.

Meanwhile, according to recent reports, hiring expectations for December are low. A new report by SHRM indicates that for the first time in 4 years, HR managers in the manufacturing and service sectors plan to cut payrolls rather than hire.

So, the short term outlook for employment continues to be a stormy one. Over the long run, however, in what types of occupations are there expected to be the most job openings? Find out in this week's news.
