National Average Salary: $14.05 per hour (June 2005 data)
Aside from being last in the alphabetical listing of all occupations identified by the U.S. Department of Labor, Zyglo Technicians are classified as "Production Inspectors, Checkers, and Examiners," who inspect and examine materials or products for conformance to specifications and to detect flaws in material, defective parts, faulty workmanship, and substandard quality.
Specifically, Zyglo Technicians utilize the "zyglo method," a procedure for visualizing incipient cracks, in which the part is immersed in a special activated penetrating oil and viewed under black light.
