Odd Jobs
Job Title: Under Cutter
National Average Salary: 18.57 per hour (June 2005 data)

Not to worry--these individuals aren't looking to "undermine" anyone's work. Under cutters operate machinery to cut along the face or seams of coal mines, stone quarries, or other mining surfaces to facilitate blasting, separating, or removing materials from mines or the earth's surface.

A Note to Readers

On October 28, 2009, President Obama signed legislation that made several changes to the family military leave provisions of the FMLA. For example, the legsilation expands the exigency leave benefits to include family members of active duty service members. Under the "old" law, only family members of National Guard members and reservists were eligible for "exigency leave." The legislation makes other changes as well. Please see the news article Obama Signs FMLA Expansion for more information. If you are a subscriber to Compensation.BLR.com, you can read the updated FMLA anlaysis for a more detailed look at the changes.
