President Bush has ordered federal government offices to be closed on Friday, as a sign of respect for President Reagan, who died Saturday.

Bush has also ordered that American flags be displayed at half-staff for 30 days, starting from Saturday.

Friday, the day of Reagan's funeral, has been designated a national day of mourning. In making the designation, Bush said: "I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President Reagan. I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in this solemn observance."

The government shutdown will not apply to "those offices and installations, or parts thereof, in the Department of State, the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, or other departments, independent establishments, and governmental agencies that the heads thereof determine should remain open for reasons of national security or defense or other essential public business."

Reagan's body will lie in repose at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, through Tuesday. Here's is the schedule of funeral events for the remainder of the week, including Friday's burial services:

Wednesday:

8:30 a.m. PDT: Reagan family motorcade departs presidential library en route to Naval Base Ventura County in Point Mugu.

9:30 a.m. PDT: Aircraft departs Point Mugu for Andrews Air Force Base, outside Washington.

5 p.m. EDT: Aircraft arrives at Andrews AFB.

6 p.m. EDT: Formal funeral procession to U.S. Capitol, with casket transfer onto horse-drawn caisson at 1600 Constitution Avenue, an open area near the White House and the Washington Monument.

7 p.m. EDT: State funeral ceremony in Capitol Rotunda.

8:30 p.m. EDT: Lying in state begins in Capitol Rotunda and continues through the night.

Thursday:

All day: Lying in state continues for 24 hours in Capitol Rotunda.

Friday:

10:45 a.m. EDT: Motorcade departs U.S. Capitol.

11:30 a.m. EDT: National funeral service at Washington National Cathedral.

1:45 p.m. EDT: Motorcade departs National Cathedral.

2:45 p.m. EDT: Aircraft departs Andrews AFB.

4:45 p.m. PDT: Aircraft arrives at Naval Base Ventura County-Point Mugu.

6 p.m. PDT: Motorcade arrives at presidential library.

6:15 p.m. PDT: Private interment service at presidential library.

7:30 p.m. PDT: Interment ceremony concludes.
