Job placement Web sites are receiving resumes in record numbers these days, according to a story in USA Today.
The story reported that Careerbuilder.com has doubled its resume collection in the last three months. HotJobs.com has increased resumes by 77 percent since January and Monster.com reported it has 50 percent more resumes since December.
"The market is frenzied and getting crazier," Monster.com CEO Jeff Taylor was quoted in the story. He attributes the record numbers to layoffs in the dot-com sector and growth in the number of "silent job seekers," who look for better jobs while at work.
The story also reported that e-recruiting revenue is expected to jump from more than $500 million last year to $4.5 billion in 2004, according to market researcher IDC.
