"Our commercial has struck a cord with viewers because it challenges them to think about their careers and whether their current jobs are meaningful to them. We get calls and emails every day from people who have been inspired by our message - and that's the measure of the ad's true success," said Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com.
The commercial, created by Mullen Advertising of Wenham, Mass., has also won a number of awards. The firm has been retained to create a new ad that will premier in January 2000 at Super Bowl XXXIV.
ster.com's "When I Grow Up" commercial was named to Time magazine's list of "The Best Television of 1999" (Dec. 20, 1999 issue). The ad, which premiered last January during Super Bowl XXXIII, features real-life kids sharing tongue-in-cheek career aspirations. "When I grow up, I want to file all day," says one child. "I want to claw my way up to middle management," says another.
