Attorneys Clint Robison and Amy Jensen discuss garnishment payment time frames in a BLR webinar entitled ‘Payroll: How to Legally Handle Tax Levies and Garnishments’. The attorneys explain that the employer must continue making the necessary withholdings for the levy and/or garnishment until any of the following occurs:
- The total amount due on the notice has been satisfied
- Employer receives a higher priority Earnings Withholding Order
- Employer receives written instructions from the agency at issue advising that the order is withdrawn
- The amount of the disposable earnings are below the minimum amounts subject to garnishment
