The attorneys discuss that some states recognize that a burden is placed on employers as they comply with garnishment notices and process the orders.
Some states permit employers to charge the employee or the creditor an administrative fee for processing the wage withholding order each pay period. The following should be noted about such fees:
- It may be capped
- It must be deducted from other wages
