Protecting worker rights is a top priority, said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. Solis released a statement regarding the increased enforcement and outreach efforts of the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD).
“Since I took office, the department has collected more than $300 million in back wages for more than 385,000 workers,” states Solis. Three-hundred additional wage and hour investigators have been hired as well.
“We are making significant strides to combat wage violations, but there is still much work to do. We welcome the efforts of those who join us in educating the public about the need for more.”
Workers are encouraged to contact the department if they have any questions about the protections they are guaranteed under the law.
